 cut eight squares 5x5 for the central motif and 16 boxes to a beacon.Balls I got a diameter of 7.5 cm, the size of the squares determined empirically. Yes still need 2 squares for the substrate under the central motif.

Bunting Inspired Ribbon Buttons

I love the 4th of July and this time of year I start thinking of all things red, white and blue.
The look of a classic bunting is on my mind.  So this morning I pulled out some of my supplies of ribbon and fabrics and started to play around.

A Spring Bouquet; Ribbon Flowers - Two Ways

Is spring taking it's own sweet time in your neck of the woods? Well, it is here. I crave color and life; I want to see green grass and flowers! On this sunny 27 degree day in Pittsburgh, I have to settle for some crafty flowers instead. Do you have any ribbon or buttons lying around? Okay, let's get to work.

Decorating the $1.25 Christmas Tree

Most of you who read my other blog, know I scored a little four and a half foot tree at the Salvation Army Store for $1.25! Being in the process of transitioning from Colorado's Front Range to the Pacific Northwest, all of our belongings are stored, so we had to pretty much start from scratch with this year's tree.

The little Salvation Army tree had definitely seen some better days, and was looking a little sad. Back in my event planning days, scraggly trees were "filled in" with cuttings from other evergreens, so I decided to grab some evergreen garland while still in the store.

DIY Arrow Cupcake Toppers for Valentines Day

here is a cute little Cupid’s arrow.  A shot to the heart with some serious sweetness. I’m so excited to share these goodies with you – thank you so much, Cyd, for having me! xo
Supplies:
felt
lollipop
sticks
hot glue
scissors
Cut two pieces of felt into a small rectangle, about 1.5” by 2.5” (about 3/4″ by 1″ for toothpicks) Layer them on top of each other, and trim the corners off one end, to create point. Cut opposite end at the same angle, cutting a triangle out of the end. Open and separate the felt pieces. Run a line of hot glue at the end of the lollipop stick. Glue to one piece of felt. Run a second strip of hot glue and press top piece of felt down. Press all around stick to secure down, open and add more glue as needed to cover stick and secure. Once cool, cut two diagonal lines on each side, stopping short of the stick, following the lines of the point. Now, cut a line straight into the center to the top of the diagonal lines. This creates a small triangle notch, when finished you will have two on each side. Enjoy! Use these in cupcakes, as drink stirrers (on a bamboo skewer) with cherries or in a heart shaped brownie bite (on a toothpick.) here is a cute little Cupid’s arrow.  A shot to the heart with some serious sweetness. Valentine's Brownies

I honestly have been thinking about today's Friday Favorite all week.  I can't help it!  Look at how adorable Jenny's lovestruck brownies are.  I already had some valentine treat plans of my own in progress when I saw these, but they're so perfect I know I'm going to figure out a way to make these happen, too.

One of our favorite things from Meredith’s Play Outside party was definitely the walnut boats.  So we’re thrilled that Meredith is sharing with us how easy and fun they were to make.

Supplies:

• Halved and cleaned walnut shells
• Wooden toothpicks
• A white candle
• Scissors
• Decorative tape, such as Japanese Washi Tape

1.       Light candle and drip wax about ¼ of the way up the inside of each empty walnut shell.

these are super easy and fun to make. and talk about cheap!! only a few pennies to make each flower, can't beat that! all you need to make these beauties is: felt, glue gun, scissors or rotary cutter, and buttons.

How to make Candy Cane Hearts

I see these candy cane hearts all over the web and in stores. Left with some extra candy canes after Christmas I thought I would give it a try!

All you need are candy canes (I used mini ones) and lollipop sticks.

Pom pom maker

This is a tutorial for making pom-poms using your
fingers. This one is a small, two-finger pom-pom
(about 1" in diameter) but you can make bigger ones
by using more fingers. As far as yarn choice, thinner
and softer yarn will make a more pleasing pom-pom.
