gray felt flowers TUTORIAL

here's how i did these simple felt flowers. they're quick and easy and great to add to headbands, handbags, brooches, shoes, etc. they would be cute present toppers too! :o)

Supplies: felt, scissors or rotary cutter, needle and thread, and embellishment for center. {i used pearls}
first, knot your thread and needle. then cut one strip of felt 1.5" by 12" for each flower.
start by folding over the top corner width wise about 1/4" away from the bottom corner as shown. don't fold the entire length in half, just the small section.
fold over the remaining length to create a corner. pinch your 2 fingers together to hold in place.
from now on, you will twist the next section to create the corners instead of simply folding. you can see it better in the next photo.
keep twisting over small sections of the length until you have create a small circle.
while pinching the first circle in place, twist the felt around to create a little larger circle behind the first circle. pinch in place to hold together.

it took me a couple tries to get the desired shape i wanted, so play around and see what works for you.
once your flower looks the way you like it, use your thread and needle to stitch the layers in place. be sure to catch all layers and to stitch the twists until the flower is held in place.

you could make these with longer pieces of felt for different looks and maybe more layers. i just the standard 12" of a small piece of felt that you find in craft stores.
using your thread and needle again, stitch the flower to your desired object. here i stitched mine to a handbag. the bag's material was soft enough that i could stitch on it, luckily.
then hot glue or sew your embellishments to the flower's center.
and there you have super easy and cute felt flowers!
happy crafting!!
